  • CAMH: Teen Council

1.
High school was when I first came through Teen Council, CAMH, I thank you Now there's nothing that I can't do Cause you taught me how to use every dang tool Possible, now I make things optimal for the optical I'm hopped up on some Mountain Dew And I'm up all night like a hospital Got four shows going on next month And I gotta work on all them at once Got a fashion show, it's not a hassle though to handle clothes And I get food to munch I didn't have to pay for lunch At the CAMH I never have to pay for much I'm gettin' paid and stuff for months and months For having fun, getting work done, I'm coming up, son Seen faces that I never thought I'd ever know Been places that I never thought I'd ever go I love it so Won't let it go Teen Council Mayne, fool, who knew colored pencils and stencils Could get me into school, university, jobs Well, it works for me Don't you know? I love my life Since I been at the CAMH things feel alright Showing films at the Fine Arts [Museum], hanging at Menil Park Instilled in my heart is this art Getting paid more than minimum wage At the end of the day I'm feeling I made A change, a difference, all with good friends I went the distance and got it in At the battle of the bands a rapper man Threw a drum through a window and cut a girl hand But even when things don't go as planned We make it happenin' and win Seen faces that I never thought I'd ever know Been places that I never thought I'd ever go I love it so Won't let it go Teen Council

about

Fat Tony Houston, Texas

No artist personifies the DIY culture of both underground hip-hop and Houston as perfectly as Fat Tony, who stormed through the indie-rap gates more than a decade ago. He’s found himself as an artist among fellow Houstonians who mix inward-looking pathos with storytelling and a swagger all their own—from Devin the Dude to Scarface—as well as like-minded iconoclasts such as Prince. ... more
