about

This is one of the first songs I recorded when I moved to Los Angeles for the second time on Christmas 2016. I recorded this verse and left it untouched until the producer Grey Goon pulled it up during our last session before I moved from L.A. to Brooklyn in June 2019. He introduced me to G Yamazawa that day. I added a chorus, and G Yamazawa contributed the second verse a week or two later. It feels good to complete one of the first songs I worked on during my second term in L.A.

lyrics

Been in it for a long time
Day 1 niggas, tell 'em where you from
We don't give a fuck about y'all side
Got the game hogtied
Giddy up
At it at all times
In the Wikipedia
They really big a nigga up, yeah
Golly, I just keep it so player
Really more Biggie than the nigga over there
Really I'm like Diddy, but I play the game fair, ay
Really too wit it, too in it, they stare
Really don't know if she really do care
Running to the money, first place every year
Too lit, I'm spilling my beer
Two weeks and I miss her already
Hit the road like Andretti
And I
Don't know when I'm
Going back home

Out here in L.A.
I'm drinking green juice every day
I see so many new faces
Can't remember all the names
Just recorded a new album
And they say I'm on the way
They say there ain't nobody like me
But, like, when do I get paid?

Can't go back
Cause the numbers going up
And the wind is at my back
I'm about to fuck 'em up

about

Fat Tony Houston, Texas

No artist personifies the DIY culture of both underground hip-hop and Houston as perfectly as Fat Tony, who stormed through the indie-rap gates more than a decade ago. He’s found himself as an artist among fellow Houstonians who mix inward-looking pathos with storytelling and a swagger all their own—from Devin the Dude to Scarface—as well as like-minded iconoclasts such as Prince. ... more
